Dr. Phenrat’s research interests are in the area of environmental nanotechnology, site remediation, and clean, alternative energy. He is an experimentalist working on a variety of fundamental and application-oriented research projects including 1) using novel nanomaterials for restoring contaminated groundwater and soil, 2) developing a universal, integrated model to predict fate and transport of nanomaterials in porous media for risk assessment and life cycle analysis of nanomaterial-based consumer products, 3) characterizing nanoparticle-organic macromolecule-water interfacial properties which affect nanoparticle application and implication, and 4) life cycle analysis of alternative energy.
Dr. Tanapon Phenrat is a faculty member at the Faculty of Engineering, Naresuan University. He is internationally recognized as a pioneer researcher on using functionalized nanoscale zerovalent iron (NZVI) particles for contaminant source zone remediation. He is also nationally known as a practitioner who invents and applies various novel engineering materials and techniques for laboratory to field-scale remediation to restore contaminated natural resources at Map Ta Phut industrial estate, Mea Sod, Klitty, and Nong Nea district. Dr. Phenrat published 24 peer-reviewed international research articles and won more than 10 national and international research awards including the 2012 ProSPER.Net-Scopus Young Scientist Award (Asian-Pacific Region).
